The serial numbers do not reflect this change - Fender continued to make instruments using existing serial number schemes. The new Fender did not acquire any physical assets of the old company, just the name 'Fender'. Hence during 1985 to 1987, production of Fender guitars was only done in Japan, while USA Fender created a new factory in. In contrast to an AR-15, the ACR’s upper receiver bears the serial number. The pistol grip and triggerguard are integral to the lower receiver, along with the generously beveled magazine well. The grip and magazine well are also textured with a very effective slip-reducing pattern made of tiny Magpul logos. I would think the BFI would be the normal start to their serials, but I also noticied the markings are a little diffrent on the L marked serials lower the bushmaster logo is smaller. The above chart shows the approximate first serial number shipped for the indicated year. This number should be used as a point of reference only. It is not necessarily the very first serial number shipped, but it can be used to determine the approximate year your Ruger firearm was shipped.
Please use the Serial Number lookup tool to check your that the serial number of your Bushmaster ACR is within the recall notice. If your serial number qualifies follow the instructions given.
Ruger does not produce firearms in serial number order. There are occasions when blocks of serial numbers have been manufactured out of sequence, sometimes years later. Also, within a model family the same serial number prefix may be used to produce a variety of different models, all in the same block of serial numbers. And in some cases, models may be stored for a length of time before they are shipped.
